Have a Giving Moment on GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday partner, My Giving Moment is a National campaign from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston to encourage Canadians to give back in their communities.

Every Canadian has something to give, whether it’s big or small. Opportunities to give are all around us, every day. We call them “Giving Moments”. The more we act on them, the better and more caring Canada will become.

My Giving Moment will help more Canadians discover what they have to give. It will inspire millions of us to say, “Hey, I’m going to do that!” And we’ll have a stronger, more compassionate nation that we can all be proud of – a nation that values helping others and giving back to the community.

GivingTuesday is a great opportunity for Canadians to find their Giving Moment. So find a cause and give, volunteer, spread the word and #FeelGreatGiving!

Founding Partner Give-Back Participation

As a Founding Partner of GivingTuesday Canada, Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC) is giving back to the charitable sector by waiving text-to-donate campaign fees for the months of November and December. This offer specifically applies to new campaign activations that occur between November 3 and December 1, 2015.

This offer is limited to one free campaign per charity. A campaign may consist of one keyword, any or all donation amounts, either French or English or bilingual messaging, a customizable follow-up message, a customizable mobile form to collect donor information, and the short code number 20222.

For charities new to MGFC, the standard one-time application fee of $350 applies. For those that have registered in the past, but do not currently have an active campaign, the standard $100 renewal fee applies. Each respective fee corresponds to a charity’s registration/renewal with MGFC under a contractual agreement that ensures transparency of practices and compliance with best practices, and assures one of MGFC’s accountability when conducting its activities for the benefit of each charity registered, notably: consolidation, reconciliation, and remittance of all funds donated across all participating wireless service providers.

Did Giving Tuesday have an impact in 2014?

In 2014, the 2nd year for GivingTuesday in Canada, there was a groundswell of activity organized by local civic groups in cities across the country, including Halifax, Ottawa, Guelph, Sarnia, Regina, Calgary and Vancouver. Numerous mayors, from Halifax to Victoria, proclaimed December 2nd, 2014 as “GivingTuesday”.
